Hello my lovelies, I am finally moved into my new house (I will write about this on a later post) and I am struggling to catch up with things and juggling work as well. I’ve had the most exhausting two weeks in my life, but I am glad it is all sorted now!
Since it is October and my all time favourite holiday is Halloween, I am going to read books that fall into a spooky, zombie-ish or dystopian theme. I am so excited about this month, that I believe that I have gone completely overboard with this TBR list.
So, without further ado, the books:
World war Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War by Max Brooks – if you’ve seen the World War Z featuring Brad Pitt as Gerry Lane, then you would probably want to read this book that inspired the film. I absolutely loved the movie so I am looking forward to the book!
Undead (Undead #1) by Kirsty McKay. If there is something that could go wrong in a school trip, this is it! Also, the cover! Looks amazing, and I think it will read amazing!
Infected (Infected #1) by Scott Sigler – “When you do hear the voices it’s already too late”. Mysterious seeds falling from the sky? – check; Plague driving victims to insanity, murder and suicide? – check. What more could I want?
Skulduggery Pleasant (Skulduggery Pleasant #1) by Derek Landy, Tom Percival. 12 year old Stephanie and skeleton trying to save the world from evil? Sounds fun, adventurous and downright spooky!
Set Up (Medusa Project #1) by Sophie McKenzie. Secrets projects and children with psychic abilities are on the top of my list of lovable things. The concept sounds really great and I am looking forward to see if it reads as good as I didn’t hear much about it.
A Bargain in Silver (Solis Invicti #1) by Josie Jaffrey. Besides the fact that this cover is totally gorgeous, how could I say no to Josie when she asked if I would review it when it is a “paranormal romance series, set in a dystopian, post-apocalyptic London” (Goodreads). I have every intention of finding out it this is as tasty as it sounds, but I think it is!
Zombie Britannica by Thomas Emson. Zombie overload come my way! Did I say zombies? Flesh eating, action packed story just in time for the creepiest month of the year. Gold!
Bird Box by Josh Malerman. “Something is out there, something terrifying that must not be seen. One glimpse of it, and a person is driven to deadly violence. No one knows what it is or where it came from”. Sold!
I am also continuing to read Fallen by Lauren Kate, as well as Kings of this World by Peter Bailey! I am absolutely loving Kings of this world. It is such a good read, shame I am struggling to find time to actually read lately.
That’s almost it for this month, but I need something short of a miracle to be able to tackle them all, but fingers crossed!
What are you reading the month of October? Is there anything on this list that appeals to you? Can you recommend me some more reads that fit the theme?
Xoxo
Jane.
Added Bird Box to my TBR! Nice list 🙂 🙂
