Hello my dears! October is long gone now and time somehow managed to slip between my fingers and I am late (again!) in posting my wrap-up for the month! I’ve been a lot active on Instagram as with the house move everything was and still is crazy! If you want to keep up to date with what I am up to, check out my IG account here.
So, without further ado, lets see what I had planned to read in October and how much I actually did read!
So I was planning to read these:
Needless to say, I didn’t happen to read all of them, but lets see what I’ve read!
- Bird Box by Josh Malerman. 👉 4.5 stars /5 stars.
This was the perfect read for October! It was spooky and the suspense was amazing. I would’ve given it 5 stars if I would’ve had one question answered at the end, although I can see why it wasn’t. If you’ve read it, you know what I am talking about! Great read!
2. A Bargain in Silver by Josie Jaffrey 👉 3.75 stars/5 stars.
I overall really enjoyed this book and kept me awake as I wanted to see what was going on. I liked the story, but I couldn’t agree with some decisions that the main character took halfway through the story, however I would read the sequel as I believe the story has lots of potential. The story overall is intriguing and everyone who knows me know that zombs and vamps are my thing! This book kept me awake past midnight, so well done Josie for your debut novel!
3. Kings of this World by Peter Bailey. 👉 4 stars /5 stars.
I really enjoyed this book, although it was quite slow paced to begin with, but once it picked up speed, OH MY GOD! I don’t read a lot of novels featuring aliens, however this story is so much more than that! I really enjoyed the fact that the usual tropes were missing from this plot. The two main characters were two males who were trying to figure out what the hell was happening and the complete lack of romance was in all honesty so refreshing. Again, I will do a full review for this one to explain why you should pick this book up and read it! NOW!
4. Undead by Kirsty McKay. 👉 4/5 stars.
This was a great fluffy zombie read, perfect for those days when I wanted to relax after a long day in work, but continue to read spooky stuff. I say fluffy because it is not an intense book, surely not as intense as Bird Box, but it was funny, full of action. I really liked the main character Bobby who recently moved back to the UK and sassy Smitty who enjoys teasing her. School trip? Zombs? What could go wrong?! I really liked their duo and for me it worked really well. In places I thought that the writer conveniently helped them escape, however it was still a very enjoyable read considering the fact that these were 14-15 years old kids in the middle of a zombie outbreak. Yeah… that!
…. and that was it. I managed to read only four books, but that’s great because it’s still better than September of August. Finally getting out of the reading slump.
Have you guys read any of these? If so, what did you think? Would you read any of these books?
