Week 10 ~ Bookish Update (Gemina, Red Sparrow, bujo & subscription boxes)

PSX_20180311_105306.jpgHello dear reader’s family! This week has been very tiring and I felt quite under the weather, didn’t get much done overall, watched some movies after work and that was about it. Until I picked GEMINA and life as we know it was suspended as I struggled to put this book down. It was extremely clever and teared up my soul. I finished reading it on Wednesday and I continue to keep thinking about it. For me, although a tad slow in the beginning, is a solid 5 🌟- if you wanna hear more of my thoughts on it, keep an eye out for the book review I’ll do soon.

After Gemina, I decided to pick RED SPARROW, a novel written by Jason Matthews, a former CIA operative. I stared reading this on Thursday and I only read 30 pages the first night as I was too tired to function and the technicality of the writing made my head spin, but chapter 3 introduces the POV of Dominika and it started to become very interesting. I like the way he introduces the background of the characters so far, and I feel invested to continue because the character are likeable.

I’ve been so much better with my Bullet Journaling as well and I am quite proud on how I made it look like, nothing fancy, but I think that the new layout will work better for me. I also managed to make myself a blogging schedule on a very cute notepad that I bought recently. Very happy with my new courage to do things! 😁😁😁

Today, is Mother’s day, so I’ve surprised my mum with a card and flowers as in Eastern Europe we celebrate it on the 8th of March, but in UK on the 11th and she thought I forgot about it!

They have teamed up with other bookish sub boxes for a weekend full of discounts on boxes and you can grab any of those boxes for 10-15% off from each of them by using code SUPPORTABOX at checkout, so go check out her profile for more details! I think it is really cool and that different bookish boxes can support each other and I really dig this kind of friendliness!

That’s it for my weekend. I am going to continue today and read some more Red Sparrow before going out for dinner with the family! Hope you will have a fabulous Sunday and lots of love.

December 2017 Wrap-Up ~ What I read in December

Hello peaches!

I know it’s almost end of January, but your girl was super busy. I also knew I had a lot of books to talk about in this wrap-up so I kept on putting it off! December was a great reading month for me because I was off a lot and had more time to read.

I read a total of 14 books in December which is unheard of for me 😱😱😱. I read a mix of 1 star and 5 star rated books. I will talk about these books in the order in which I finished reading them:

272845951. A Christmas Homecoming (Bar V5 Dude Ranch #5) by Melissa McClone. Because I am a fan of reading romance, I picked this book on my kindle. I wanted something fluffy and easy to get me into some holiday mood and give some swoon. Wrong. This 2 star book has not met my expectations. The relationship between this billionaire who was Ellie’s brother’s best friend was so ridiculous and poorly managed I couldn’t even… I read a lot of romance books in my life since these are my secret pleasure, however this one hit sank pretty fast. There is no character development, the plot didn’t make sense and neah…

2. Realm of Mindweavers- Book One: Tales of Golmeira by Marianne Ratcliffe saved me from the pit of despair I was falling with previous book. I wrote a full review for this book here.

3. Twelve Days of Christmas by Debbie Macomber was a sweet enemies to lovers story. I really liked how it was written and the development on the characters in the story. I do not fare well with insta-love so I really appreciated that their romance took time to develop. It was one of my favourite strictly-romance books of 2017.

4. Murder on the Orient Express (Hercule Poirot #10) by Agatha Christie was a re-read for me. I read it when I was in highschool, about 10 years ago and I enjoyed it even more now. I really enjoyed the crisp writing and the matter of fact discussions, and the fact that we were trying to solve the story along with Poirot as he was sharing information with other characters.

IMG_20171216_171258_740.jpg5. The Last Namsara (Iskari #1) by Kristen Ciccarelli. I kind of stopped midway thinking that I knew where it was going and was about to put it aside when I decided to pick it up and it was amazing! I was so happy that I continued. The story started quite slow, however I ate the pages until the end. The characters were either really likeable or really hate-able with plenty of twists and turns to keep me guessing. This book was featured in the Fairyloor November box.
6. Undiscovered (Treasure Hunter Security #1)by Anna Hackett. This was another quick romance read. It was enjoyable to read, there was some plot in there and the characters were pleasant. What I did not understand, was where the mystical oasis was coming from? It was all too strange and the motivations of the bad guy were… well… bad.
img_20171226_160203_647.jpg7. Illuminae (The Illuminae Files #1) by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff. Holy guacamole, this book is absolutely incredible! Everything in this book is one of my top reads of 2017 and with a good reason: interesting storytelling, great characters, good plot (which makes sense), and insane chemistry between these characters. I read this book in 2 days (would’ve read it in one, but sometimes I have to adult…). Pick it up and read it, you’ll not be sorry!

8. Christmas Magic: All I Want for Christmas / This Magic Moment by Nora Roberts. I actually didn’t realise that this book actually had two stories in it. I read this first one and it was like… Meh!, so didn’t continue with the other ones. It was entertaining, but besides that it felt flat and rushed to me. Didn’t appreciate the different POV’s either.
341532949. Princess Dracula (Princess Dracula #1) by John Patrick Kennedy. This book was such a cover buy! I was really intrigued by the story and I was convinced it was going one way… but it went a different way. It was a very disappointing read for me. I am not sure if I will read the other ones yet, although I have an e-ARC of book 4. This made my list of most surprising book of 2017 (and not for good reasons); more details here.
10. American Gods (American Gods) by Neil Gaiman on audiobook did not impress me. I think I DNF’ed it at 60-70% because I couldn’t cope with the story anymore. It confused the hell out of me, but I stuck to it because I really liked the narration! The voices were beautiful and Neil himself narrates bits of it, so it was brilliant, but I had to drop it. I just couldn’t…
11. Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (Harry Potter #1 by J.K. Rowling saved the day! I never read this book, only saw the movies, so I am really happy that I manged to pick it up at Christmas and read it. It was fantastic. ‘Nuff said!

12. I listened the audiobook of The Girl of Ink and Stars by Kiran Millwood Hargrave and I really enjoyed it. The story was really good and enjoyable, the characters were well rounded, and the plot was interesting. The main character, Isabella, was a little annoying at times, but overall I did enjoy being in her head.

13. A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness tore my heart. This book was incredibly well-written and a roller-coaster of feelings. I was in tears by the end. Totally recommend it!
635959914. Secret Lives (Darke Academy #1) by Gabriella Poole. This book was extremely meh! I 2ebc88321c0ebc1e6d970cf13293c485really hated the main character and was fed up with her wanting to poke her nose into other people’s business because “knowledge is power”. Wtf? Cassie was a scholarship girl, however she did nothing to prove that she was actually great at something. What she did, was eavesdrop, meddle into other people’s business and drool over beautiful boys. No, just no.
1 star
That’s all for now! Please let me know if you’ve read any of these books and how you felt about them.
QUESTION: do you have a TBR, or do you read books as the mood takes you?

Top 5 Wednesday: Forgettable Books

Hey guys! I am going to do something new every week and that is: Top 5 Wednesday and following prompts given; click here if you want to know more!

January 17th: Forgettable Books
–Whether you loved or hated them at the time, these are books that you just don’t really remember…

33958974Unbounded by Teyla Branton.

I remember that I really loved the cover and I think it’s urban fantasy, but for the life of me I cannot remember the plot or what it was about and I only read it like last year! How bad is that?!

I even gave this one 4 stars! Why am I not remembering this?!

25596872.jpgThe Witch Hunter (The Witch Hunter Saga #1) Nicole R. Taylor

Another book that I cannot remember for the life of me what’s about. A quick peek on Goodreads, and it seems it’s with  vampire and a witch and love surely happens, but I cannot even remember how this ends. What the hell? I know I read this. I even gave it 3 stars… Odd!

Hunted Holiday (Bureau of Paranormal Investigation #1)

I sense some sort of a pattern here because I cannot remember nothing from this urban fantasy either! Are they so forgettable? Must be, because I only know it’s a vampire romance because it says on the cover! That’s ridiculous.

17331698Forever Charmed (Halloween LaVeau #1) by Rose Pressey

This one is not too bad because I vaguely remember it being about witches (although the cover is a major spoiler) and a cutsey romance (again the cover). Don’t remember much about it. Actually.. at all.

*gave this one 2 stars so no wonder…*

8167001.jpgZombie Fallout (Zombie Fallout #1) by Mark Tufo

Not hard to remember that it’s with zombies, but whatever happens in it is as much of a mystery to me as it is to you. I know I gave it 3 stars, so I must’ve liked it, but I cannot remember what I likes. Damn!

… and I love zombie books!

That’s it for today guys! Hope you enjoyed my list! What are some of the books you have forgotten what they were about? Let me know in the comments down below!

Queen of Air and Darkness by Cassandra Claire ~ Cover reveal

Queen of Air and Darkness by Cassandra Claire ~ Cover reveal. What do you think? #queenofairanddarkness #thedarkartifices #TDA #QOAD

Good morning and OMG this cover!

IG: Jane_Kelsey

The cover for Queen of Air and Darkness by Cassandra Claire had recently been revealed and is it so beautiful, my heart  hurts.

Queen of Air and Darkness is the third and final instalment of The Dark Artifices series set to be released in Autumn 2018. This is definitely one of my most anticipated book releases for next year. Until then I will have the time to finish with the rest of the series. I really like the dark vibes that I am getting from this cover and I cannot wait to get to read this series.

What do you guys think of this cover? Are you excited for the release of The Dark Artifices?
