Finally, my Booktube-a-thon update!

I’ve had such a crazy time last week trying to juggle working full time, doing the Book-tube-a-thon, and going away Friday to Sunday for a Hen party, and just now I found the time to sit down and write this. I am so behind schedule with a lot of things, so I am hoping that this weekend I can spend it in a more productive manner!

From my Booktube-a-Thon list there were some challenges that I managed to do, some I didn’t. I did read 7 books, however I didn’t get the chance to read outside as the weather was horrendous in the UK. I also went away for the weekend for a hen party with only my kindle, so I managed to read 3 books during that time (Don’t know how, I swear!).

The 2017 Reading Challenges & my choices:
1/ Read a book with a person on the cover – The Secret Circle by L.J.Smith✅
2/ Read a hyped book – Everything Everything by Nicola Yoon ❌
3/ Finish a book in one day – Vampire Academy graphic novel by Richelle Mead and Emma Vieceli ✅
4/ Read about a character that is very different from you – I am number four by Pitacus Lore ❌
5/ Finish a book completely outdoors – Realm of Mindweavers- Book One: Tales of Golmeira by Marianne Ratcliffe ❌
6/ Read a book you bought because of the cover – Hush Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick ✅
7/ Read seven books – The summoning by Kelley Armstrong ✅

  • Instead of the three books that I did not get a chance to read, I read the King trilogy by  Mimi Jean Pamfiloff.

I wish I would’ve managed to do it all, do the Instagram challenges and all of that, but I am quite pleased that I have managed to read 7 books in 7 days against all odds! I suppose that at the end of the day I must be happy that I have accomplished that.

How did your Booktub-a-thon go? How many books did you manage to read?

1. Dogs or Cats or Hamsters and Why?

Cats. I always loved cats. There is something about cats that draws me in. For me they’re not just fluffy balls of fur that I love to play with, but I fell like I actually have a connection with them. Yeah, call me crazy, you wouldn’t be the only one! 😉

2. If you could live in any period and any place in time when and where would it be?

If I could live in any time period, I would choose to live in England in the 19 Century in  my own amazing version for Pride and Prejudice.

3. What is the last book you hated and why?

I’ve not read a lot of hateful books lately, but I remember starting The fearless by Emma Pass that I almost hurled across the room. I was so utterly disappointed in this book, I haven’t even finished reading it! However, nothing compares with: Life after life by Kate Atkinson that I actually reviewed last year. I hated this book with a passion. I’ve read this book as part of the book club and needless to say, I HATED it! If you want to read that review, click here.

4. Favourite author and favourite book (not necessarily by the same author)?

Favorite author it will forever be Margaret Mitchell and Jane Austen is more or less on the same par so it is really hard to decide. Struggling a bit to think of a favorite book as I could list so many depending on the genre. I will probably go with two classics because I just cannot decide: Gone with the wind by Margaret Mitchell and Crime and punishment by Dostoievski. If we are thinking of YA, then my all time favorite is Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead!

5. What is something you wish people knew about you?

I stutter sometimes. Unless you know me really well, you wouldn’t quite realise that I have a stutter sometimes.

6. How long have you been blogging?

I’ve actually just hit 9 years of having this blog, however I’ve been quite rubbish in keeping it updated until recently.

7. What is your favorite type of character in a book?

Bad-ass female characters. Always. I always enjoy a strong female character that takes no bullshit from anyone, such as Rose from Vampire Academy.

8. What is your favorite TV show?

I don’t watch a lot of TV, but when I do, I am following Jessica Jones, Shadowhunters and I was watching The OA at some point as well, but I stopped from some reason. I totally loved Stranger things so I am looking forward to the next season. I totally love Game of thrones.

9. What is your favorite holiday? Why?

Halloween –  too many reasons to list, but amongst them: the time of the year when it’s ok to display a cranium (plastic one for those of you worrying…), read and watch creepy books/movies, etc.

10. What 3 famous/fictional people, living or dead, would you want at your fantasy dinner party?

Dorian Grey, Mr Darcy and Rose Hathaway from VA. Can you imagine these three sitting down and playing nice? Don’t think so!

11. What’s your pet peeve(s)?

There are a lot of things that annoy me, but nothing annoys me more than a clingy, wingy, weak-ass female protagonist who does not know how to live without her love interest that she is going to fix! Is he abusive, hurtful, etc, she can fix it! Bitch, please!

My Questions: 1. What hyped up book you read and you hated? 2. If you could have a superpower, which one would it by and why? 3. If you were stranded in a remote, dangerous place, which character would you call for help? 4. What is your favourite fiction genre and why? 5. What’s your favourite book quote? 6. If you could change your current career, what would you choose? Why? 7. If you’d have the opportunity to meet your favourite author, which one would you pick? 8. Which three traits of a main character you think are most important? Why?  9. If I would build a time machine and you would have one ride and one ride only, where would you go and when?  10. Which book that you read this year was your favourite? Why this one? 11. What is your favourite movie adaptation from a book? Why?

That’s it folks! Hope you enjoyed finding a little bit more about me. If you don’t follow me already on my Social Media, you’re going on the naughty step! Just kidding, I will actually release Ramsey’s wolves on you! *Evil laugh*

Kidding…. or am I?

Fandom groups

I am a fan of two beautiful things: Sailor Moon (Anime series & Manga) and Vampire Academy (the books & movie as a guilty pleasure). I love them both so much, that I joined them up on Facebook on their little groups. And it was great! There were all those understanding people that you could talk about the series/books/movie and have a fun conversation about it, but lately some of the groups are coming up with the bright idea of not talking about the content aka spoilers.

I’m like… hellooo!!! We are here to talk about these fucking series/books/movie, what the hell are we supposed to do, post pictures of kittens? Why am I a fan in a fandom group if I cannot talk about what I want to talk?! That’s sort of why I joined in the group to talk about it and what happens and the things that get me like ‘Omg, omg, Dimitri is a strigoi… omg… he’s not a strigoi anymore!’. So talking about the content of the series/books/movie is forbidden… because a selected few don’t know the ending. Are you like joking me?

When I joined up I didn’t finish the VA series. I was on my fifth book I think and there were spoilers around and guess what, I had the option to either read it or skip it! It’s a fucking spoiler, not the end of the world as we know it! And guess what, there is a spin-off series that I didn’t read yet, however I have read all the spoilers for it and I am not annoyed of being prissy about it, I could’ve just skipped it. Same goes for Sailor Moon, I read the
manga endless times and I saw all the 200 ep series more than 3 times so of course I want to talk about the fucking story when Sailor Moon Crystal came out as it was a different ball park!

It bloody pisses me off that I can’t talk about what I like in the fandom that I belong to! Why, why? One might argue that it is unfair for those who only started. Well, let me tell you something… if you only just started, how about if you don’t join the online group if you don’t want any spoilers or if you do, just skip where there’s a spoiler, the way I did it?! How about that, so we, those who actually want to talk about the fucking story are able to, the whole fucking reason as to why we are fans in a group about the object of our admiration?! That’s why people have something called: free fucking will!

I am a fangirl, so shut the front door!
